Our first annual Mountains-to-Sea Trail month is now over. We celebrated October with 60 events statewide – backpacks, dayhikes, paddles, slideshow presentations and more. The events to the left are from 2008 and are an example of what we will host in October 2009.

We have many people to thank for the festivities:

• All the folks who organized events to help thousands of people get out and enjoy the trail
• Our very generous and enthusiastic corporate sponsors – Great Outdoor Provision Co. and Johnson Subaru
• Governor Mike Easley for proclaiming October as Mountains-to-Sea Trail month
• All the newspapers, magazines and radio stations that features and articles about the trail
• And the hundreds of people who bought raffle tickets. The money raised will be a big help in our efforts to build and maintain the trail. Congratulations to the 11 winners. We hope they are enjoying their prizes!

We hope you’ll help us celebrate the trail next October. Whether you like to hike, backpack, paddle, or pedal we’ll have events for all skill levels and outdoor interests in beautiful settings,
